O nama
When I filmed Netflix’s hit series Somebody Feed Phil, I never thought so many people would remember me or see me as their first link to Croatia. At first, it felt strange when guests recognized me and asked for a photo, but I got used to it quickly.
Jokes aside, I’m grateful I could help put Korčula on the map. What makes me happiest is seeing guests at Maha Bar enjoying the relaxed atmosphere and good food.
The name Maha
Maha is my father’s nickname, and now it’s mine too. In Sanskrit, Maha means “great”.
We take that seriously.
That’s what we aim for: great flavor, great hospitality, and real effort in every dish.
Maha Bar is part of our family story, now four generations strong. My grandmother was a cook, my parents carried on her legacy, and today our kids work in the kitchen and behind the bar too. We’ve all learned the same lesson: do the job right or not at all.
Our philosophy
Wherever we travel, we look for great street food. We watch and learn from others.
Back home, we say something is “ko’ mliko ko materino” (like a mother’s milk), meaning it’s just perfect. But if someone gets really angry, that same mother’s milk can turn into a curse. We go from one extreme to the other, which honestly describes us pretty well.
We love a relaxed vibe and a good laugh, but we don’t want anyone to think relaxed means unprofessional. That’s why everyone on our team follows the way we’ve worked for the past five years, and our standards never slip.
We believe every guest can feel the difference: there’s easy-going banter at the table, and everything in the kitchen is ko’ mliko materino.

You can find us at Prolaz Tri sulara, Korčula. During the season from May to October, we’re open every day from 8 am to 1 am. Breakfast and brunch are served from 8 am to noon.
